Boston Concrete, Brick and Stone

Concrete, Brick and Stone
When restoring an existing structure of concrete, brick or stone, such as a sidewalk, you must first obtain approval from Boston's Public Improvement Commission. The architect must produce plans and submit them to Boston's City Hall chief engineer. The plans must show complete details for any removal of trees or shrubs from the area where concrete, brick or stone will be laid. This will be reviewed by the Boston Parks Department before approval is given. If you intend to make a change to a concrete driveway, you are required to obtain a Use of Premises Permit approved by both the Public Works Department and the Inspectional Services Department. Boston concrete and masonry contractors do not need to be licensed or registered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Boston has launched a Grafitti Busters program to eliminate graffiti in the city. If you spot graffiti on any concrete, brick or stone, contact the mayor's office and they will take care of the removal.
