Boston Kitchens

Kitchens
Before beginning any kitchen remodeling or addition project on a Boston home, it is necessary to first check with Boston's Board of Building Regulations and Standards to ensure that all kitchen remodeling and/or addition requirements are met. All Boston contractors must be registered with the Massachusetts Director of Home Improvement Registration for kitchen remodeling projects that exceed $1000. The city of Boston has established the HomeWorks program to provide homeowners with grants for certain home improvement projects, including kitchen remodeling. These grants can cover up to one-third of the cost of the total project. To be eligible homeowners must be able to come up with the remaining cost. To protect homeowners from contractor fraud and home improvement mistakes, Boston's Division of Consumer Affairs has established The Guaranty Fund. However, to be eligible for this, homeowners must ensure that their contractor has obtained a building permit before beginning work on their kitchen remodel.
